Privacy Policy

Overview

CleanSlateX is operated by PYRX Technology ("we", "our", "us"). This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it across our macOS application and website (https://cleanslatex.app).

Data We Collect

Account data: When you create an account, we collect your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your name and profile picture as provided by Google. For direct purchases, payment information is processed by Lemon Squeezy. For Mac App Store purchases, payment is handled by Apple. We do not store credit card details.

Google OAuth data: If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your Google account email address, display name, and profile picture. We use this information solely for account creation and authentication. We do not request or receive access to Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar, or any other Google services beyond basic profile information.

Device identifier: When you activate a free trial or validate a license, we collect a hardware identifier (UUID) from your Mac. This is used solely to enforce per-device license limits and is not linked to your identity beyond your account.

Authentication tokens: Login credentials are stored securely in the macOS Keychain on your device.

Website analytics: Our website (cleanslatex.app) uses Google Analytics to understand website traffic. This data is anonymized and does not identify individual users. The macOS application does not collect any usage analytics.

How We Use Your Data

• Account creation and authentication: Your email (and name/profile picture if signing in via Google) are used to create and manage your account.
• License management: Your email and device identifier are used to validate your license and enforce device limits.
• Transactional emails: We send account-related emails (verification, password reset, license receipts) from [email protected] via our email provider, Resend.
• Product improvements: Anonymized website analytics help us improve our website experience.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• File names, contents, or paths on your Mac
• Browsing history or personal documents
• Keystrokes or screen recordings
• Contacts, messages, or photos
• In-app usage analytics or feature telemetry
• Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar, or any Google service data

Google API Services User Data Policy

Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We only use Google account data (email, name, and profile picture) for authentication and account creation. We do not transfer this data to third parties except as necessary to provide our service (authentication via our backend). We do not use Google user data for advertising purposes.

Local Processing

All scanning and cleaning operations are performed entirely on your Mac. No file data is sent to our servers. Your files stay on your device at all times.

Network Communication

The macOS app communicates with external services for the following purposes only:

• Authentication — Sign-in, sign-up, Google OAuth, magic link login, and password reset via our API (api.cleanslatex.app)
• License validation — Verifying your license status and activating trials
• Update checks — Checking for new app versions via the GitHub Releases API (direct distribution only)
• In-app purchases — StoreKit communication with Apple servers (Mac App Store version only)

No file data, scan results, or cleaning activity is transmitted during any of these operations.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• pyrx.auth — Authentication provider for account management, email/password login, and Google OAuth sign-in
• Lemon Squeezy — Payment processing and license management for direct purchases
• Resend — Transactional email delivery (verification, password reset, and account notifications)
• Google — OAuth authentication (sign in with Google) and website analytics (Google Analytics on our website only, not in the macOS app)
• Apple — In-app purchase processing and subscription management for Mac App Store distribution
• GitHub — Hosting app update releases (the app checks api.github.com for new versions)
• Cloudflare — CDN and security proxy for our API domain

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data with third parties only as necessary to provide our service:

• pyrx.auth receives your email (and Google profile data if using Google sign-in) to manage authentication.
• Lemon Squeezy receives your email and payment information to process purchases.
• Resend receives your email address to deliver transactional emails.

Data Retention and Deletion

Account data is retained while your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. Upon receiving a deletion request, we will remove your account data from our systems and instruct our third-party service providers to do the same. If you signed in with Google, deleting your CleanSlateX account does not affect your Google account.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of CleanSlateX after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
